The Festival Sensacional is a music event created by Híbrido.cc, which takes place annually in the city of Belo Horizonte, in Minas Gerais, Brazil. I was the artist responsible for creating the visual identity, lettering and illustrations for the 2023 edition of the event, which featured its own illustrated deck.
The proposed art has as its main element the figure of an Ouroboros that is designed in the shape of a heart: the ascendance of consciousness must be done in a loving and compassionate way.
The four animals present in the art symbolize the four elements of matter, namely: the bird (air), the snakes (earth), the fish (water) and the salamander (fire). Together, the four elements represent the totality of experiences and perceptions on a concrete level.
The eyes drawn on the flowers and on the central axis of the poster reinforce the ability to use oracles to see beyond what is usually seen.
The union of complementary opposites is represented by the duality between the sun and the moon.
The graphic style of this proposal combines the aesthetics of psychedelic music posters with the atmosphere of tarot decks.
In addition to the concept poster illustration, I also created the lettering for the 2023 edition of the Festival Sensacional, which contains the complete flat lettering, as well as its version with applied texture and the abbreviated lettering versions (Sensa! and S!).
The art created for the concept poster was applied to various materials that were sold in the event's official store during the Festival.
An important part of the event's visual identity were the patterns and textures*, used both in the concept poster and in the rest of the Festival's graphic material.

Each Arcana of the Tarot was reinterpreted to symbolize one of the Festival Sensacional's values, such as: gender equality, respect for diversity, environmental awareness, appreciation of the city's cultural movements, among others.
In addition to the 22 cards with reinterpretations of the Tarot Major Arcana, I also illustrated a few cards to represent the musicians who performed in the 2023 edition of the event. These arts were used on Festival Sensacional’s social media to promote the line-up.
The 22-card deck was sold at the official Festival Sensacional store that operated during the event, on June 24, 2023.
